Here is some excerpts from one of our interviews with Lord Sebastian Coe, the chairman of the London 2012 Olympic Committee. Coe spent 6 weeks training with York High School before the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Newton will often reference Lord Coe, and his book Run Free when speaking to his team.
The Long Green Line movie is coming home to Elmhurst.

Additional screenings are scheduled on August 17th @ 4:30 pm, and August 30 (the York alumni race weekend) at 4:30 pm.
As of now - all movies will be matinee prices - $6.50 per ticket.
One of the great things about York Cross Country is the life lessons that all of the great coaches share with the team. In this clip, the greatest assistant coach in the country, Charlie Kern, talks to the boys about the value of getting one’s own house in order before entering into a dating relationship.
Most people are always worried about finding “THE ONE” - or finding Mr. or Ms. Right.
Here Coach Kern explains the importance of taking good care of one’s self.
Charlie Kern was a great high school and college runner from the greater Buffalo, NY area and University of Kentucky, respectively.
Coincidentally, Coach Kern DID have his house in order in college - where he met and fell in love with his wife, Lynn.
Anyone who has run for Coach Newton on a COLD day - can quote at least ONE of these LINES…this is the first of over TWO hours of Long Green Line out takes that we’ll be posting in the next few months. Please DIGG our pages, Subscribe to our blog, and help us share the GOSPEL of NEWTON with the world.
Picture yourself on a cold winter day - the Chicago winds are SCREAMING, the snow is blowing vertically, and the freshman on the team are complaining about the temperature. You can only compete outside in cross country, and there’s no hiding indoors.
Coach Newton can always be counted on to add humor to an otherwise COLD and WINDY day.
The Long Green Line movie has been selected to be the opening night film of the Running Film Festival - taking place in Eugene, OR - from July 3-5. The festival will run during the U.S. Olympic Trials.
Matt and Eric Dettman - two subjects of the film - will be on hand for a Q & A session after the screening.
We’re hoping to see a lot of local Eugene runners and coaches at the screening.
This is the sample clip that we used to promote the film to potential investors. So far - it has been viewed over 10,000 times on various video sharing websites, including youtube.
